Frequently Asked Questions

How does Henrici source its wood?

In a few different ways, we hear about “issue” trees that are dead, that need to come down for safety reasons or they are not included in short or long term municipal or urban planning.

Where specifically, what area?

Oxford, Haldimand Norfolk and Elgin counties, Ontario, Canada is where we source our local wood.

What kinds of local wood?

Walnut, Juniper, Cherry, Maple, Cedar and Oak

What about the Teak you use in some of your outdoor collection?

This is Marine grade teak and it is grown in Burma.

Your "Live Art" has a very unique grain and texture, where does this come from?

Aha, this is special as these characteristics come from wood that never sees the light of day, it comes from the root or as some say the stump. If you picture a stump that has been trying to oppose the earth its entire life you understand that it is twisted and gnarly as it must seek the path of least resistance. Hence the unique grains.

What kind of top do you use for the "Our Home" Tables?

3/8” Tempered glass with clear silicone grommets to prevent scratching.

Are these tables designed for indoor use as well?

Yes they can be used for both indoor and outdoor use. Note that care should be taken in extreme cold to prevent damage as everything becomes more brittle.

Where can I see these tables?

“Our Home” Canadian is in the Showroom of Country Home Candles, See Friends of Henrici for details. “Our Home” American is in the Ramblin Road Brewery, See Friends of Henrici for details.

Why steel and wood?

Since 4 years old I grew up around farm equipment. My Father and his 4 Brothers were John Deere Dealers and I like the feel, solidity, steadfastness, strength and longevity of steel. Of course a steel table can be cold and shows no character as wood does. So marrying the two together just feels good, it’s like opposites attracted to each other.

Where do you source the steel for Henrici tables?

Exclusively from a local artisan Lammert Brons. He has a clean bright well lit shop that reflects his upbeat character. Lammert always under promises and over delivers. Oh, and he has great ideas!

Why Henrici?

Henrici is Latin for Henry. In 2005, Jacqueline and I went on a trip to Rome. I was so inspired by the architecture, sculptures, paintings, clothing, vehicles etc… I fell in love with their abilities to draw beauty out of the simplest stone, piece of glass or wood that I wanted to design and build furniture, clothes whatever. Now I cannot sew or manufacture a car like Ferrari, but I can work with wood. I want to share this passion with others while giving them the opportunity to create something truly unique out of the amazing resources nature has to offer. I believe that people want something special, something Canadian, something for which they can say, “We designed this.” Henrici can help them do that. Although Henrici as a business is in it’s infancy, I would love nothing better than to see others enjoy these unique pieces of art and enjoy them as much as we do.

So does Henrici have ready made products that I can buy?

Just a few pieces, primarily we cater to designers and architects who have an end goal, a picture in mind for their client. Something unique, something Henrici.

How does this marriage take place?

A few different ways! You can bring us a picture, bring us a plan or we can suggest a myriad of options that will suit the affluent buyer.

Your live art, what is available, can anything be ordered?

That is difficult for each piece speaks for itself. There is no plan, no blueprint. Each piece is unique in that each underground artifact has not been created by me, it is the force of nature.

Where can I see Henrici live art and tables?

We have friends that are displaying our products:
J.D Lighting on Tillson Ave in Tillsonburg.
Country Home Candle Company, Hwy #3 between Courtland and Delhi.
Marcus Swiss Jewellers in Downtown Tillsonburg just beside the Royal Bank.

Do you accept tips?

Humbly, yes….

Can I come to Henrici’s shop and pick out my own piece of wood, can I be involved?

Whole heartedly!

What do you charge for tables, wall art etc.?

Each piece is unique and we will quote according to the rarity of the wood, labour to prepare and amount of product used.
